Introducing the UGA Access button

Submitted by Chandler Christoffel on

If you have used databases through UGA Libraries recently, including Multi-Search, you may have noticed something different.

In several databases, we now have a UGA Access button. This button can connect you to full-text or print versions of articles, books, or other resources, when available. If no resource is available, you can also use the button to request a PDF or a physical copy from another library. Libraries calls this kind of button a link resolver. But jargon aside, think of it as a second option to check in case full-text is not directly provided by a database.

EITS Outage to Impact Library Services on Oct. 23

Submitted by Camie on

EITS will conduct network maintenance that will result in complete outages of campus Internet access and campus information systems on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 6:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. This outage is expected to cause a major disruption to library services and resources, both on campus and off campus.

Please make note that unlike previous planned network maintenances where there were intermittent outages, this maintenance will result in a complete outage of access to services. UGA students faculty, staff, and students should be aware of interruptions to library services, which will impact those accessing resources on campus or at home.

EBSCOHost Account and Folder Changes

Submitted by Kristin on

Students, faculty, and staff with My EBSCOHost accounts:

An upcoming transition to OpenAthens as the Libraries' login system will automatically link an EBSCOHost account to your MyID. When you sign in to any EBSCO database or the Multi-Search after December 21, you will see folders for your new UGA EBSCOHost account. If you previously set up an individual My EBSCOHost account, choose 'Switch Accounts' to log into your older account.

The first time you log in, you will be asked to consent to the EBSCO Personal Data Retention and Usage Policy. This is the same policy that governs your older EBSCO account.

HathiTrust Partnership Grants Digital Access To Much of UGA Libraries' Books

Submitted by amywatts on

Through membership in a digital preservation consortium of 150 academic libraries, millions of the University of Georgia Libraries’ books remain remotely accessible while UGA’s campus is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The partnership with HathiTrust provides our faculty, staff, and students with emergency access to digital copies of almost 40 percent of print holdings at UGA and other USG institutions. Combined with the UGA’s existing collection of e-books, HathiTrust’s temporary emergency access enables patrons to read from millions of e-volumes across a broad range of disciplines.

UGA Network and Internet Outage, January 25

Submitted by Kristin on

The University of Georgia will conduct campus-wide network maintenance on Saturday, January 25 from 6:00 a.m. - midnight. As a result, there will be intermittent outages of campus Internet access and information systems. Since the exact timing of outages on Saturday will be unpredictable, please assume that online resources will be unavailable.

For the Libraries, this means that you will not be able to log into our computers or use the wireless. Our systems (e.g., websites, databases, e-journals) will be inaccessible from campus.

You will still be able to check out books.

GIL and GALILEO will only be accessible if you are using a *non-UGA internet service provider* at the following URLs:
