Students, faculty, and staff with My EBSCOHost accounts:

An upcoming transition to OpenAthens as the Libraries' login system will automatically link an EBSCOHost account to your MyID. When you sign in to any EBSCO database or the Multi-Search after December 21, you will see folders for your new UGA EBSCOHost account. If you previously set up an individual My EBSCOHost account, choose 'Switch Accounts' to log into your older account.

The first time you log in, you will be asked to consent to the EBSCO Personal Data Retention and Usage Policy. This is the same policy that governs your older EBSCO account.

Merging folders and accounts:

UGA Libraries will continue to provide course reserve services for faculty planning their courses for spring semester, with some changes due to the continuing COVID-19 situation. Requests submitted by December 11 are guaranteed to be completed and accessible by the first day of Spring Semester classes, January 13.

Students and faculty in the University of Georgia community can continue to take advantage of library services after the Thanksgiving transition to online classes, whether in Athens or at home in another state.

In addition to online resources and virtual consultations with librarians and archivists, library facilities, including the Miller Learning Center, will remain available to students, faculty, staff, and the community through the remainder of the year and into the spring semester.

Terry Kay has had a lot of ideas in his life, and most of those developed into page-turning novels. But in the summer of 1999, one of his ideas wasn’t about creating books — it was about honoring the authors that came before him.

“I thought Georgia needed to be doing more to honor its writers, to honor its rich literary heritage,” said Kay, whose seventh novel was published that year. “Around the same time, I began to be aware that Georgia literature wasn’t being taught in the schools anymore and I thought that establishing an award that focused not just a particular work by a writer but their whole lifetime of work was a good way to honor the remarkable writers who hail from Georgia or who have made Georgia their home and might encourage teachers of English to see what incredible writers we have right here in Georgia.”

The Digital Humanities Lab will host a series of virtual workshops to introduce a number of methods for visualizing data and will introduce the concepts using web tools, Excel, Tableau, and R.

These sessions are open to undergraduate and graduate students in any discipline and are intended for beginners. No experience necessary. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays at 4 via Zoom. To register, contact digi@uga.edu.

The UGA Libraries and Center for Teaching and Learning are pleased to announce the call for applications for the third round of the Provost’s Affordable Course Materials Grant program. This grant is intended to provide one-time funding to support the adoption of open and/or affordable (less than $40) course materials. Awards will be made up to $5,000 each, with a total of $60,000 being awarded.

Historical issues of a popular Georgia agricultural bulletin that document decades of farming trends during the 20th century are now available freely online. 

The University of Georgia Libraries will open to the public Aug. 10 with measures in place to promote the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. The reopening comes as UGA prepares to welcome students for fall classes beginning Aug. 20.

When UGA students need help on a research project or a paper, they know to head to one of our Libraries. But when they are miles from campus, it might seem like that help is out of reach.

Yet while our campus and our locations are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and statewide shelter-in-place order, the services and resources of the libraries are available virtually.

Our librarians are available via our online chat, email and individual remote consultation, and many of our books and resources are available digitally.

We know that it can be difficult to find the tools that you need, so the Libraries and the Office of Online Learning are hosting a series of webinars to help you navigate the library at a distance and ask our librarians questions.

In compliance with the governor’s stay-at-home order, UGA Libraries will no longer offer book pickup or scanning services.

This applies to all outstanding book requests, including interlibrary loan requests, slated to be picked up at the Main Library, until further notice.
