December deadlines are approaching for UGA Libraries services that will aid in instruction of your Spring 2025 classes.

Libraries Course Reserves

New UGA Libraries Agreements Expand Open Access Publishing Opportunities

Submitted by Camie on

New University of Georgia Libraries’ agreements have expanded free open access publishing opportunities for UGA researchers, now covering more than 3,000 titles from prominent academic journal publishers.

Increasingly, researchers prefer open access options in order to expand the visibility, use, and impact of their work, and federal funding agencies require that grant-funded research be made openly available. UGA Libraries’ agreements with eight publishers cover the open access charges normally passed to researchers. These new arrangements are called “publish and read” agreements, as they address terms both for subscriptions to a publisher’s e-journals and support for open access.

McBay Renovation Update: How to Access Materials

At a critical stage in the preparation for renovations, some science-related materials will take longer than normal for patrons to check out, but UGA librarians are hard at work to ease the process.

As part of the project to replace the McBay Science Library’s aging climate control and lighting systems and improve study space for students, the fourth floor has been closed for the academic year with materials available to be retrieved by library staff. From Nov. 1 through March 2024 those books and journals will be unavailable due to a relocation process.

How To Access Materials During McBay Library 4th Floor Renovation

Submitted by Camie on

A renovation of the fourth floor of UGA’s McBay Science Library will replace the original 1968 climate control and lighting systems and improve study space for our students.

While the project requires temporary relocation of fourth-floor materials, our priority throughout will be to ensure that the University community can access the scholarly resources they need in a timely manner, either through digital access or print retrieval.
