Seen/Unseen is a portrait of the complex network that created, held, and sustained a community of the enslaved. It documents the people kept in bondage by the Cobb-Lamar family, one of the wealthiest and most politically prominent families in antebellum America, labored in households and on plantations that spanned Georgia. The Hargrett Library invites you and your family on a virtual exploration of our current exhibit “The Hargrett Hours: Exploring Medieval Manuscripts”. Travel back in time on our family day website, which features medieval story time, crafts, and a virtual exhibit tour. Students will have a chance to take a break from studying at one of the UGA Libraries and Paws & Relax during finals. The Main Library, Science Library, and Miller Learning Center will host therapy dogs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 6. The outdoor event will give students a chance to get some comfort from furry friends and learn about student wellness initiatives and the University Health Center. Paws & Relax will also be held outside Ramsey and Aderhold Hall.

Celebrate National Poetry Month with the UGA Libraries at two student poetry readings later this month.

The April 27 and 28 events will feature student poets from Stillpoint, UGA’s student literary magazine, and is hosted in conjunction with The Georgia Review, a nationally acclaimed literary-culture journal that is a unit of the Libraries.

Funding from the National Historical Publications & Records Commission (NHPRC) has supported the digitization of 4,000 hours of public media in the Peabody Awards Collection. These programs are being made accessible through the American Archive of Public Broadcasting (AAPB). Brown Media is asking your help to expand access to these historic programs by helping correct computer generated transcripts. AAPB transcriptathons enlist a virtual community of volunteer transcribers who help to correct the simple errors made in speech-to-text transcripts.

The Russell Library is hosting a conversation with Atlanta Journal-Constitution senior reporter and former Washington correspondent Tamar Hallerman on April 8 as part of its annual Congress Week celebration.
