Professional Development and Research Committee (PDRC)

Charge

The UGA Libraries' Faculty Committee on Professional Development and Research (PDRC) fosters professional growth of the Libraries' faculty through:

Developing and promoting continuing education activities, encouraging and facilitating participation in local, state, regional, and national organizations; and promoting research interests and activities of the Libraries Faculty.

To accomplish these goals, PDRC sponsors programs of interest to the Libraries' faculty and periodically schedules professional forums, discussions and workshops.

PDRC coordinates a variety of seminars, training and professional development opportunities and offers conference participation support, including opportunities for dress rehearsals or practice sessions. Submit a program suggestion or contact any current member of PDRC.

PDRC also maintains a resources list and actively shares professional accomplishments by faculty. To share your activities with other UGA Libraries faculty, please use this form or contact any current member of PDRC.

W. Porter Kellam Library Enrichment Fund

The Kellam Library Enrichment Fund was created to bring scholars and lecturers to campus to address matters of interest to the Libraries’ faculty. As of FY2014, PDRC will serve as the clearinghouse for requests for Kellam funds. Any faculty member may request funds for speakers who can be shown to specifically appeal to the interests of the Libraries’ faculty. Requests for funding should be sent to the Chair of PDRC, who will in turn consult with the rest of the committee. The committee will then send their recommendation to Dr. Graham, who will make the final decision.

Membership

Membership of the committee is comprised of volunteer Faculty members who serve 2 years in addition to an elected Chair, who serves 1 year. Additionally, the Chair of PDRC serves on the Faculty Advisory Board (FAB).
