Join the Hargrett Library for the induction of Sue Monk Kidd into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame on Thursday, September 8th at 6:00 p.m. in room 271 of the UGA Special Collections Building. More About the Author
Award winning author Sue Monk Kidd was born in Albany, Georgia and grew up in the small town of Sylvester. Her first book, The Secret Life of Bees, was published in 2001 and achieved critical acclaim. Like many of Kidd's other works, Bees tackles themes of race, gender, and religion. Kidd’s most recent novel, The Book of Longings (2020) tells the fictional story of Ana, the wife of Jesus Christ. The title reached #5 on The New York Times Hardcover Fiction List and has been translated into at least 17 languages. Kidd now lives in North Carolina with her husband and dog, Barney.
