Georgia Capitol Museum
Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm
Saturday - Sunday: Closed
The Capitol Museum is closed on Georgia state holidays.
The Museum seeks to preserve and interpret the history of the Georgia Capitol itself as well as the events that have taken place within its walls. To carry out this purpose, the Museum collects, maintains, and exhibits significant artifacts, including historic flags and works of art, within the State Capitol.
The museum is free and a great complement to a guided/self-guided tour of the capitol building.
Vans and buses that hold 15 passengers or more, and that are marked with the name of an organization, can park on the right side of Washington Street in front of the Capitol.
The #1 Parking Lot, located across the street from the Capitol at 130 Capitol Avenue, is open to the public when the state legislature is not in session (May –December). Parking fees apply. Please call 404-651-7526 for additional information about this lot.
When the state legislature is in session (January – April), the closest public parking lot is located one block from the Capitol at 65 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive (at the former World of Coca-Cola building). Parking fees apply. Please call 404-872-8868 for additional information about this lot.
Metered parking is available on city streets.
