Community Digitization Kits

Special Collections Libraries Community Digitization Kits are available to assist campus organizations and community partners in preserving their organizations’ institutional memories. Campus and community organizations can check out a kit composed of a flatbed scanner, laptop, and accompanying software for a two-week loan period to complete small to mid-sized scanning projects on their own, with additional support and orientation services from a Research and Instruction Librarian. The orientation includes an introduction to the equipment and software, along with a consultation session to set goals, including a scope of work, for the scanning project. Organizations may also discuss having the digital files created during the project archived and/or made accessible by the UGA Special Collections Libraries.

The Community Digitization Kits allow a wider intersection of groups to practice digitization and record keeping of their important documents, along with a sustainable way to encourage and empower a future rooted in diverse storytelling and teaching with primary sources.
