Update: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Congressman Kinzinger will be unable to join us in-person for our upcoming Congress Week 2022 conversation. Instead, he will engage in a virtual conversation with attendees present at the Special Collections Libraries. Attendees present will still have the opportunity to hear directly from Congressman Kinzinger on the issues of the day live and to ask him questions. The lunch reception will still be provided following the event.
As part of its annual Congress Week celebration, the Russell Library along with co-sponsors the Department of Political Science and the Applied Politics Certificate program are hosting Alexander Bolton and Sharece Thrower to discuss their new book Checks in the Balance: Legislative Capacity and the Dynamics of Executive Power.

Join the Russell Library for a panel featuring Drs. James C. Giesen, Associate Professor of History and Grisham Master Teacher, Mississippi State University, and Derek Alderman, Professor of Geography, University of Tennessee. Discussion will include the social, cultural, and economic impact of notorious pests such as the boll weevil and kudzu in modern Georgia. Dr. Brian Drake, Senior Lecturer, Department of History, University of Georgia, will moderate the event.
